Forteller

A narrative-driven card-based game I worked on for a collaborative game project that encompassed the majority of the second unit of my second year on the Games Development course. Working around our assigned theme of "a conversation that changes the world", we created a game where you take on the role of a fortune teller in medieval times who must talk to the visiting citizens and hear about their stories, piece together what statements are true or false, and then lay out their current selection of cards in a specific pattern in order to influence their fate (and the world's) in the right ways. I learnt how to create and run my own repository and ran one for the project (while providing technical support to teammates also using it), programmed the main player interactions and the base card functionality, provided additional Blueprint support and gave guidance and feedback to the art team. I really enjoyed this project, and I got to become more accustomed to programming mouse-driven player characters since I had the opportunity to program draggable/placeable card objects, as well as camera angle switching.
