Sir Krab's Battle Arena

A micro-game made for a game jam that I participated in as part of my work for my first unit of my second year on the Games Development course, in which we could pick/join groups comprised of Games Dev, Games Art and Indie Dev students, and had to make a micro-game in the style of those seen in the WarioWare series within five days. In this game, the player plays as a crab and must beat a tourist in a game of tug-of-war by paying attention to numbers on-screen to know which number key to press at a given time as quickly as possible. I programmed the main controls in C++ and did some additional UI programming in Blueprint, while my teammate Ollie programmed the timer mechanics and ran the project Github repository, and taught me some the basics of using it myself. I revisited this project on my own much later and made use of delta time to fix an issue with the timer to practise what I had learnt by that point about using delta time in timers.
